…is big brewery sales going down the can. My campadre Lew Bryson has the latest on the attempts by MillerCoors to fashion some sort of vaguely beer-like beverage that will pick up summer sales before beginning is slow, inexorable decline, but that’s only part of the story, as reported over at the Wall Street Journal.
The rest, well, that’s the more than 3% decline in sales that both Anheuser-Busch InBev and MillerCoors suffered in the U.S. last year. The same year, BTW, in which craft beer posted 9% volume and 12% revenue gains in the first half. Anybody around here think MGD 64 Lemonade is going to reverse that tide?
Interesting – I wonder if this is the start of a trend, or a blip. Obviously, one hopes that it’s the start of a trend, and if it is, it echoes what’s been happening in Italy over the last few years.
