Maybe what Alan says is true and no one is reading beer blogs any more, but if you are, particularly if you are reading this one, you have likely noticed that there has been little in the way of activity here of late. That’s because I’ve been in England – and more about that to follow soon – and unlike many of my peers, I have a hard time blogging when I’m on the road.
Truth be told, I have a hard time doing anything much more than keeping up with email when I’m travelling. For one, I’m in a new or at least not completely familiar land, and so my first instinct it to get out there and explore, not sit at my computer and compose. (I don’t keep data on my phone when travelling so as to avoid ruinous roaming charges, so that’s a complete non-starter there.) For this, I make no apologies, because that is, after all, the entire point of travel.
Secondly, although I seem to have a running stream of thoughts and story ideas rattling around my brain while I am out and exploring, when finally I do sit down at my computer at the end of the day, they seem to vanish completely. I have no idea why this is, but my cure is to keep a good, old fashioned paper notebook on the go, which I review at length once I’m back home.

I must agree that writing when exploring new lands and cultures can be difficult. I reckon you’re best off enjoying the moment (and beers) and then writing about it when you get back to home comforts… at least thats what we tend to do….
